About the Range

Desperate for donations during the winter months.

Some of our animals have been here such a long time now and it is always very quiet during the winter with many more waiting to come in. Please give a little.

The Rescue Range is a small scale rescue organization, based in Newport, Gwent.  Our work involves rehabilitation and rehoming of sick, injured, neglected and unwanted small pets.

My love for animals stems from my childhood.  My rescue interests were sparked 14 years ago when I came across some extremely neglected guinea pigs at a local pet shop.   I ended up purchasing the piggies and after taking them to my vet for treatment I was able to successfully rehome them all.

All the rescue efforts here at the Rescue Range are funded by myself alone.  The rescue work is a very costly and  due to a massive drain on my finances, I was forced to sell my home last year.  The sale of my home was then followed by my being taken ill and I seriously doubted  I would be able to continue the rescue and rehabilitation work.  However, here I am, doing it again--  this time on a much smaller scale.

My dream is to win the Euro Millions and set up a wonderful rescue centre for animals big and small.  We can but dream...  In the meantime, I will do what I can with the knowledge I have to make a better life for the animals that come across my path.  Some of the small animals we work with include rabbits, guinea pigs, kittens, ferrets, rats, hamsters, chinchillas and occassionally adult cats.

Thank you so much for your interest,

             Wendy

Animals in our care come from all walks of life...

The resident animals at the Rescue Range come from all walks of life, each having their own unique set of circumstances which have led them to us.  Some of the animals here suffer with age-related problems and are in need of understanding new owners, able to offer the comfort they deserve in their "golden years."  Some animals are surrendered because their owners have simply tired of their obligation to the animal.  Many of our residents have been badly neglected and are in need of urgent veterinary care.  Some come in as lost and never claimed.

Whatever the reason, our main objective is to provide care and comfort for the animal until a forever home can be found.

Please keep in mind...

  • We are an ALL volunteer operation, with absolutely no wages paid.
  • All money generated by surrendering and adoption fees go straight back to the animals in the form of vets bills, feed, housing and enrichment.
